QHHT vs
Past Life Regression
They are often mentioned in the same breath, and they share the same doorway. Where they differ is what happens once you are through it.
Past life regression guides you into deep relaxation to explore scenes experienced as other lifetimes. QHHT often begins in a similar way, then moves beyond the experience itself, opening a direct conversation with your subconscious where you can ask your own questions about your present life, recurring patterns and the path ahead.
Where QHHT and past life regression overlap
- The same natural state. Both use guided relaxation to reach the state you pass through every day between waking and sleep.
- You stay aware. In both, you can speak, move, pause or open your eyes at any time.
- Past lives may appear. Both can bring scenes experienced as other lifetimes, and both leave the interpretation to you.
- Open questions. A skilled practitioner in either approach asks what you notice rather than telling you what to find.
Where they differ
The purpose of the session
A past life regression centres on the lifetimes themselves: who you were, what happened, and what those scenes may reflect about now. In QHHT, a past life is usually the first part of the journey rather than the destination. The scene is understood as the one most relevant to your present life, and it sets the stage for what follows.
The conversation with your subconscious
This is the defining feature of QHHT. After the scene, the practitioner asks to speak directly with your subconscious, which Dolores Cannon described as the part of you holding the wider picture of your life. Your prepared questions are then explored one by one, with answers coming through in your own voice. Most regression sessions do not include this dialogue. Read more about the subconscious in QHHT.
Your own questions
QHHT is built around the questions you bring. Before the session you and Michelle spend unhurried time refining them, covering whatever matters most: relationships, work, purpose, wellbeing, or the quieter questions without easy answers. See how to prepare for a QHHT session.
Length and structure
With Michelle, a past life regression session takes three to three and a half hours. A full QHHT session with Michelle is an afternoon-long commitment of five to six hours: an extended pre-talk, the hypnosis itself, and time to integrate afterwards. Walk through the QHHT afternoon.

Questions about QHHT and regression
Is QHHT a type of past life regression?
QHHT grew out of Dolores Cannon's regression work and often includes a past life, so it overlaps with regression. It is best understood as its own technique, because of the conversation with your subconscious that follows.
Do I have to experience a past life in QHHT?
No. Some people arrive in a past life, others in a symbolic place, a scene from this life, or somewhere difficult to describe. Whatever arises is treated as meaningful, and the conversation with your subconscious follows either way.
